About

A lot of high schools say that they are a family, but Livingston is really a family. It's a positive place to learn and grow.

Livingston Collegiate Academy was founded in the 2016-2017 school year. Located at 7301 Dwyer Road in New Orleans East, the school was built on a site originally occupied by Edward Livingston Middle School, which was closed in 2005 as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Re-founded as a high school, Livingston started with only a ninth grade — the class of 2020. In our inaugural year, the Class of 2020 outperformed much of the city of New Orleans in their End of Course exams. 93% of our students scored Good or Excellent in each of their End of Course exams. This earned the school an “A” letter grade, the highest score of any open-enrollment high school in Orleans Parish.

Over the years, Livingston has grown to serve students in 9th through 12th grade. Our students’ performance has remained strong as we have grown. Each year since our founding, Livingston’s students’ growth has ranked in the top ten among open enrollment schools in the state. Among Livingston’s educators are  several Collegiate Academies Featured Teachers and multiple teachers on the Honor Roll for TNTP's Fishman Prize for Superlative Classroom Practice. We are proud to have a team that is truly devoted to excellence in serving all students.

Paired with rigorous academics and individualized interventions, Livingston offers students a chance to participate in clubs and co-curriculars during the school day in what is called Flex Block. This approach ensures that all students have an opportunity to discover and explore what they are passionate about both in and out of the classroom. Livingston’s athletic teams, including football and boys/girls basketball, participate in leagues regulated by the LHSAA. Our band, dance, cheer, flag, and majorette teams get their steps in during Mardi Gras in multiple parades throughout the season, including Krewe of Nefertiti and Krewe of Muses. Our other co-curricular and club opportunities include (but are not limited to) Yoga, Fashion Club, Choir, Gaming, Mu Alpha Theta, and our Black Student Union.
